Almost 1.13 million children of primary school age (6 to 13 years old) in Kenya are already missing out on education. More are in desperate need of educational support. - UNICEF Kenya, 2020

The situation has worsened with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The percentage of school-aged children (6 to 15 years) out of school in Kenya increased from 7.5% in 2021 to 8.5% in 2023. Worryingly, too, the majority of the children out of school are from households whose heads have no formal education. - The Star Magazine, 2024

That’s where LEAF comes in, to support sustainable access to quality education for all children and youth in Kenya.

LEAF aligns all activities to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number four set by the United Nations:

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global set of 17 interconnected objectives aimed at addressing urgent environmental, social, and economic challenges to create a more sustainable and equitable world by 2030.
SDG 4 focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning opportunities. It aims to provide access to education at all levels, from early childhood to higher education, while addressing barriers such as gender inequality, disability, and poverty. By improving education systems and fostering skills development, SDG 4 seeks to empower individuals and communities, driving sustainable economic growth and reducing inequalities.
